ASHTANGA YOGA

In Ashtanga Yoga the order of asanas is entirely predefined, which distinguishes it from most other types of yoga. A practice consists of four parts: Opening series, a main series, a back-bending sequence and a finishing sequence.
This dynamic, physically demanding practice synchronises breath & movement, building an internal heat, designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Prepare to sweat as you briskly move through a set sequence.

By attending our Ashtanga classes at HYK you will learn the full primary series of ashtanga yoga, modifications, sun salutations in detail, alignment of the standing sequences, and first sitting asanas with vinyasa in detail, finishing sequence, techniques of ashtanga yoga (Ujjayi breath, bandhas, and drishtis), and advice for a safe and self-dependent practice.
Ashtanga Yoga runs every Wednesday 19:00 – 20:45 and is taught by Hannah in English.
