Handstand Evolution Sonntag 14. März 2020 – 12:30-14:30 Uhr
A handstand is a very special pose. Quite challenging and not actually “practical”. Yet,literally turning the world upside down is fascinating and holds huge potential for learning and growth.
In this workshop we will explore it from various perspectives while keeping it all playful: Anatomy and biomechanics, alignment, movement intelligence, body awareness and posture, all the way to fears and other emotional aspects.
And of course, there is no sincere handstand workshop without drills for strength, mobility, coordination, proprioception and balance.

Mito is a German movement junky, who loves to geek out on tricks, progression, biomechanics, healing arts and the meaning of life. But the important stuff in life doesn’t happen in the mind, so more importantly he loves to play, explore, co-create and dive into a dance of movement. Since 2014 it is also part of his passion to share his insights and experience in Acroyoga, handstands and Thai-Yoga-Massage. He teaches workshops throughout Europe and on many festivals and conventions around the world, as well as several barefootyoga.me retreats every year. His strengths are precise instructions, on-the-spot cues and subtle progressions. He will only be happy after a workshop if people are left with a smile, a good feeling in their body and a lot of inspirations.

The Art of Hand2Hand (AcroYoga H2H L-Base) Samstag 14. März 2020 – 15:00-17:00 Uhr
This workshop is also about inversions. But this time on top of another person!
It is not necessary to be able to balance a free handstand for more than a few seconds to join this workshop. Actually just sticking the shape and letting the base take control makes longer holds more accesible then the solo handstand.
We will go through various drills to calibrate the grip, find a good shape and stillness, as well as different ways to get in and out of it.

Thai Yoga Massage (AcroYoga Lunar) Samstag 14. März 2020 – 17:30-20:00 Uhr
In this form of massage practitioner and receiver dive into a dance of movements, acupressure, stretches and twists, as they sink into a meditative state of flow and sensing. Different from e.g. Swedish massage, it uses less muscular effort, but rather gravity and leverage. For that reason it is also not practiced on a table, but rather on a mat on the floor. Originally offered by the monks, it is also seen as a spiritual practice, allowing the practitioner to sink into a meditative state, making space to connect with intuition and sensing the needs of the receivers body.
Mito FlyingMonkey has studied Thai-Yoga-Massage with Ishine Gape, Krishna Takis, David Lutt, Markus Ras, and many more.
He has studied with traditional Thaimassage foundation course in the Sunshine School in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai / Lahu Village) twice (with Kalin and Andi), as well as an advanced course on “Body assessment, treatment and rebalancing” with Mike Tan. He has studied Chi Nei Tsang (abdominal massage) with Remco van de Visch and Integrated Cranial Biodynamics with Rosemary Wallace.

WIP – Whips-Ikarians-Pops with Mito Flying Monkey: 15.03.2020 13:00-17:00
Prereqs: stability in all birds/planks without hands + Sidestar without bases hands, and all basic L-Basing transitions.
This workshop is about dynamic movements. Good timing is key.
Whips (sometimes also called “dives”) are swinging transitions on an L-Base, usually from some kind of bird or throne to another bird or throne. Definitely one of the fastest and most exiting elements in Acroyoga.
In Pops and Icarian tricks flyers are actually gonna fly! While in pops at least the hands always stay connected, in Icarian there is real airtime, ie moments free flying included.
Once the basics of these dynamic movements become stable, it also becomes possible to combine or link them.
We will start with basics, but have lots of progressions and funky variations for you!

Let’s Explore Arm Balances-with Tobi
In yoga we can learn to do some seemingly impossible things with our bodies and open and overcome blocks in the mind. Perhaps you’ve seen an Instagram yogi or someone in class flying around and thought, “Oh I wish I could do that”, “I could never do that”, or “That’s just down right terrifying”.
When it comes to stepping out of our comfort zone, we here at HYK have a ‘fuck fear’ attitude that we invite you to join in on!
This is an all levels class designed to take your fear of flying and transform that energy into something fun, freeing and enjoyable. Tobias will teach you to build confidence by learning drills and techniques which will help you to improve strength and comfort in your arm balances.
If you are already ‘flying’ this workshop will allow you to gain better understanding of your body, we’ll show you variations and other fun things you can do to improve your personal practice.
We will cover the following poses:
Crow/Crane Pose – Bakasana
Side Crow – Parsva Bakasana
Eka Pada Koundinyasana I
Eka Pada Koundinyasana II
One Legged Crow – Eka Pada Bakasana
If you have no idea what those poses are, simply come along and find out!
